THE LOCATION

Our location in Margate is a causeway that cuts through the chalk cliff and snakes off in to the sea. It was originally created for farmers who in their tractors would collect seaweed to fertilise their fields. The sauna is situated 10m from the sea, convenient for a refreshing dip. The sauna is situated on a public beach so do expect passers by.

THE SAUNA

It accommodates 5/6 people and has a small kitchenette on the back from which our coastal feasts are prepared and cooked. We use locally coppiced sweet chestnut and birch in the sauna stove and infuse dousing water with foraged aromatics. Salt rubs and seaweed whisks are provided for you to stimulate your skin and nerve endings with whilst ice-cold foraged herbal waters and aquavit tantalise your insides!

THE MEAL

After your sauna, you’ll sit down to a delicious, seasonal meal that encapsulates the coast and its surroundings. We forage, source & prepare wild & locally bought ingredients into delicious dishes that convey the flavours of the coast.

THE DINING TABLE

We built a solid oak wood fired table to keep you warm during your meal. There is a central well that is heated with wood that radiates heat underneath, keeping your legs toasty throughout the season. Our table also doubles up as a grill for dishes that feature on our menu.

THE BOOK SHELF

We have a bookshelf full of sauna, coast & seaweed related books for you to browse whilst in between saunas.

OUR ROLE

We are here to gently guide the process being available when you need us, and not when you don’t. We will provide drinks, salts, seaweed & dousing water for you to use at your own leisure during your sauna.

Hi Mike,

Thank you again for a great day and experience, we both thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the day.  Great sauna and cold wild swimming experience with Andrew to encourage and guide us - I loved the salt scrubs too that was a really nice touch. AMAZING food - it really was a feast and the warm table is a great idea. The whole day felt very chilled and laid back. Left feeling lighter and happier from such an exhilarating day.,

 Best wishes,

Jemma

    DIETARIES

Due to the small nature of these events, we can only make small alterations to our menu, gluten would be an example. Please let us know if you have any requirements in an email.

  • Please come having recently showered as there are no showers. Bring your swimwear, 2 towels (1 for sitting on for hygiene reasons in the sauna and 1 for drying off), a water bottle to rehydrate during sessions, Beach Shoes/flip flops are ESSENTIAL and a bathrobe/swimrobe if you wish. Day wear or underwear is not permitted in the saunas. Changing room space is 50m away but it’s a good idea to come in easy, comfortable clothing to allow for a quick change. Travel light and if possible arrive ready to sauna!

  • Nature is unpredictable and the weather really is out of our control, although we do try our best. However, we’re prepared as we can be for different weather conditions. Our dining table will be covered in case it does rain.

In cases of extreme weather, we may need to move start and finish times but we will always do our best to ensure the date at the least stays the same.

  • Unless you have booked the whole sauna out, yes and the communal nature of this only heightens the experience. Private Hire: If you prefer to hire a Sauna privately, you will need to book all 6 tickets.

  • There is a building in which to get changed and if the weather is adverse, this is where you will also dine. There are no showers as of yet but we will bring a watering can should you require one.

  • If you were to book one of our saunas for exclusive use, you’re welcome to sauna in the German and Finnish way, however you will need to cover outside the sauna and in the shower area as this is open to the public. This could be with a hammam towel that you don’t mind getting wet. Clothing is compulsory if you’ve booked an individual ticket. We ask that every everyone sits on a towel at all times in the sauna.

  • As these are a small series of events with extremely tight margins, refunds will not be issued. We may however be able to offer an alternate date if we can fill your spots but this is not guaranteed.
